From 2010 we are no longer accepting wedding commissions. Whilst we do love weddings, there are number of reasons which are a combination of the industry taking a hugely DIY focus, personal reasons, and a change in business direction. We are choosing to focus our marketing on the work that we can be the most artistic with which is Fashion Photography and our “Capture the Dress“ fashion inspired bridal photography!
We are in the process of transitioning to different kinds of work. Our fashion work and the ”Capture the Dress“ fashion inspired bridals give us the space and freedom to shoot artistically and produce images that we love the most. We will spend more time collaborating with wedding industry professionals without the secret agenda of trying to gain referrals… We simply just want to shoot well and do work we love!
This was a complicated decision for us and NONE of the reasons for the change have anything to do with not loving our job, or being unhappy with the work we produce. We find immense joy in being present in the wedding environment and producing images for clients and their families to enjoy. Being a wedding photographer is a complex process that involves scheduling 12 months in advance, and yet we serve people who have come to expect a quick & cheap turnaround for an artistic product. Wedding photographers commit their life for the upcoming year and this does not necessarily allow for time for a flourishing family.
There is an unfathomable amount of front and back-end effort involved in each wedding. This is the most misunderstood part of our work, and as a result inexperienced wedding photographers often bend to the high quantity- high quality- low price mentality many of our prospective clients are starting to demand. An 8 hour day on a price list equates to around 50-100 hours for a good wedding photographer.
This video is spot-on for illustrating candidly the negative shift within the Wedding Photography Industry: The message is clear though – remember you only have photos and memories when all your guests have gone home – our message to you, choose your wedding photographer with care :)
We will continue to work with another respected photographer who we will be happy to refer you to, and of course if you want to make an offer that we can’t refuse, then we certainly are all ears. So all that is left to say on this is that we would like to thank all of our previous wedding clients for the honour of being part of the most important days of your life, and we know that our photos add to your memory of that day – a few of which appear below.
